What you can do in your kitchen--

• Recycle green waste - that is things like potato peelings, and other peelings from fruit and vegetables! This is composting and there are many ways your parents can set up a composting system in your backyard!
• Use cloth napkins that can be washed rather than paper napkins which usually go in the garbage.
• Buy "Green" products.
• Avoid buying things with lots of packaging. About 1/3 of all garbage in landfills is packaging!
• Use energy saving appliances.
• Be certain to turn off all lights and equipment when not in use.
• Sort your "TRASH" for Nashville's TREASURE by placing all cans, paper, cardboard, and plastic in Curby for collection!
• When you go grocery shopping take a canvas bag instead of taking the store's plastic or paper bags!

What you can do in your room--

• Recycle you old toys
• Recycle your old clothes that you outgrow

What would a "environmentally friendly" lunch be?

• Use a lunch box or bag instead of using disposable lunch sacks.
• Use reusable containers for sandwiches and snacks, not baggies! Using 2-3 bags per lunch adds up to a lot of unnecessary waste and expense!
• Your goal is to have very few things to throw away at the end.
